WORKING ALONE - WITH NO COVERAGE "I’m Matt and run my own digger up the East Coast, in 2023 I was heading to work in our cyclone damaged region when I found myself stuck in a river crossing, with no phone coverage, it was a 3 km walk to my machine. Majority of the time I work alone so had to think fast, a few hours later I had retrieved the Ute with the digger on my own, not an ideal situation. After this episode we spoke with Carlos from Wilcom in Gisborne within 3 days I had 2 digital radio’s programmed one for the Ute and another in the machine. I have peace of mind going to work now I can call any cellphone or our office anywhere on the coast. Carlos & Anna always go above and beyond to cater for their customers even with short notice. "I had a cel-fi booster installed by Carlos and Anna at Wilcom a couple of years ago and it completely changed the way I can go about business. Work involves a fair amount of time out in rural areas without cell reception. The install of the booster has allowed me to be contactable, and to contact others in most areas I previously wasn’t able. Driving can often be wasted time, getting from A to B, now being able to utilise that time on the phone, continuing to operate has massively increased daily productivity – even a trip from Gisborne to Wairoa is now largely in coverage.
